The New Gallery (TNG) - Calgary's original artist-run centre: "What We Take With Us" by Valerie LeBlanc & Daniel Dugas (Moncton, NB). Opening Reccption Thursday January 5, from 5 to 9pm, show runs through Saturday February 4, 2012

What We Take with Us is a two-channel video installation. Each artist independently created a program of short videos that are then shown projected side by side; as the running time of each program differs, the juxtaposition of visuals changes constantly as the loops progress. The project began as an exploration of the experience of travel and displacement, by examining the concept of home and what that means to various individuals. It was originally developed during a research residency at the Sydney College for the Arts in Sydney, Australia in September/October 2009. The research began with the artists’ own personal explorations and interviews with others, as they looked for indications of what it is like to live in a place and to call it home - and also at the shifts evoked by the experience of physically repositioning oneself in the world.

Quartz Crystal Singing Bowls powerfully produce pure, solid tones that are unrivaled in the singing bowl world and known for their many healing qualities. The blessings of a Sacred Sound session ripple out for days, weeks, and months.

The psychic Edgar Cayce predicted that the medicine of the future would be sound. The German philosopher Rudolf Steiner predicted that "pure tones will be used for healing." Nostradamus also foretold the healing of cancer though pure tones. The Hopi American Indian prophecy tells of the "coming of the rainbow people" through the keepers of the crystal bowls.
